The Challenge
Dair Ghaelach is a start-up company based just outside the Killarney National Park, Co. Kerry, Ireland and it is specialising in traditional wood carving using traditional tools like carving axes, froes and hook knives.
Dair Ghaelach needed a brand identity which would clearly describe what this business does.
‘Dair Ghaelach’ means ‘Irish Oak’ in Irish Gaelic.
Our Solution
We delivered the brand identity that clearly identified the trade that the business represents using visuals of the typical wood carving axes. These types of axes have a unique and easily identifiable shape to their axe heads which are used for slicing rather than chopping or splitting.
As the base of a logo we chose a medieval coat of arms. It was telling a story of the trade’s past going far back in history.
The chosen colour palette reflected the colours of the timber and bark. The palette strengthens the concept behind the brand design.
In addition to the brand design, we helped Dair Ghaelach to open their merchandise store and to increase their revenue stream by selling branded apparel, stickers, fridge magnets and other items.
Skills Used
Illustration, Art Direction, Marketing Strategy and Branding
The Result
Dair Ghaelach gained its identity, which is reflected in its image and tells the customers what the business does and what values it represents.
Dair Ghaelach has continuously grown its client base since the designs were delivered.
